ALCI Spring Study Day ’17

The impact of birthing practices in Ireland on breastfeeding is the theme of the upcoming ALCI Members Only Spring Study Day at the Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital, Dublin 8, on Saturday March 25th 2017.
The main speaker, Wendy Jones PhD MRPharmS, will give two presentations, the first on the effect of medications used intrapartum on breastfeeding and the second on perinatal mental health in the breastfeeding mother.
Also speaking will be Margaret O’Leary RGN, RM, IBCLC, CMS Lactation, who will speak about the challenges of supporting breastfeeding during the hospital stay, and Prof. Cecily Begley RGN, RM, RNT, FFNRCSI, MSc, MA, PhD, FTCD who will discuss initial findings from the MAMMI study. There will also be some breastfeeding ‘nuggets’ as part of the day.
This year’s Spring Study Day follows the ALCI Membership Renewal date (January 31st 2017) and new or existing members must join/renew for ’17-’18 in order to attend. The event is also open to staff and students of Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital – please email for information on this.
The ALCI AGM also takes place as part of the day. The fee for the day is €35 and includes a light lunch. Four IBLCE CERPs have been allocated and An Bord Altranais approval has been received.
